There are prospects for identifying deposits containing rare earth metals and elements on the territory of Belarus. This was announced on March 25 by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic.

"There are also prospects for identifying deposits containing rare earth metals and elements on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. Basically, all the objects were identified in the 1980s and early 2000s, are at the initial stage of study and require further research, taking into account the state of the market and the capabilities of domestic industrial enterprises," Viktor Galanov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, is quoted in the Telegram channel of the department.

He also noted that the republic's enterprises are just beginning to actively explore the possibilities of mining, extracting rare earth metals and producing high-tech products with high added value.

Galanov noted that one of the key topics of the conference was the task of assessing the state of the resource base of rare metals and rare earth elements in Russia and Belarus and the prospects for their extraction.

On March 4, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed the government to search for rare earth metals in the republic. The Head of State stressed that this is a topical issue, and recalled that US President Donald Trump is involved in the issue of mining rare earth metals, but Belarusian officials have not yet dealt with this.
