German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier presented letters of dismissal to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and 14 members of the federal government in connection with the termination of their powers at Bellevue Palace. This was reported by Spiegel on March 25.

Before the presentation, Steinmeier noted the work of the outgoing Chancellor's government during the coronavirus pandemic, the Ukrainian conflict and the situation in Gaza.

"Olaf Scholz and his cabinet have received letters of resignation from Frank-Walter Steinmeier and are now in power only as acting officers," the publication says.

Artyom Sokolov, a researcher at the Center for European Studies at the MGIMO Institute of International Studies, said on March 25 that Germany was unlikely to be able to support an anti-Russian course.

Early elections to the Bundestag were held in Germany on February 23. The opposition bloc of the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) won, gaining almost 28.6% of the vote. The second place was taken by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party with 20.8%. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (SSV) failed to enter the Bundestag.
