The doctor listed the factors influencing the development of diabetes

Therapist Natalia Leontieva told us what can actually lead to the development of diabetes.
In an interview with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Tuesday, March 25, the specialist noted that diabetes is a complex disease that develops under the influence of a number of factors, and not because of one specific cause.
So, she dispelled the myth that diabetes occurs due to an increase in sugar intake, although excessive amounts of it can contribute to weight gain and obesity, which already increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. In addition, being overweight, especially in the abdominal area, leads to insulin resistance. Meanwhile, according to the doctor, diabetes can also occur in people with normal weight, a role in this may be played by a genetic predisposition, autoimmune diseases and other factors.
In addition, Leontieva emphasized, the lack of regular physical exercise leads to a decrease in insulin sensitivity and weight gain. The risk of developing diabetes also increases with age, especially after the age of 45.
There is also gestational diabetes, which develops during pregnancy and increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the future.
The doctor added that a healthy lifestyle and regular medical checkups will help reduce the risk of developing diabetes and maintain health.
On March 25, gastroenterologist Anastasia Tymoshchenko warned that if you have diabetes and obesity, you should not eat semolina porridge. According to the expert, semolina contains a large amount of fast carbohydrates, it can provoke a sharp jump in insulin, writes "Moscow 24".
On March 24, doctor Oksana Pivovarova said that sugar is not a direct cause of diabetes mellitus. According to her, sugary foods and drinks contain a lot of calories, resulting in weight gain. A large body weight increases the risk of developing insulin resistance, notes 360.ru .
On March 23, Georgy Suslyanok, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioorganic Synthesis at ROSBIOTECH University, recommended that diabetics give up sweet fortified wines. He explained that fortified wines with the addition of grape alcohol contain a lot of sugar, which in combination with alcohol overloads the pancreas and liver.
