ROSSETI and the Ministry of Emergency Situations will develop cooperation to prevent emergency situations at power facilities. Alexander Kurenkov, the head of the Ministry, and Andrey Ryumin, the CEO of Rosseti, agreed on this at a working meeting.

Tasks for the upcoming flood and fire periods are also considered.

"Rescuers and power engineers regularly work out algorithms for interaction in conditional emergency situations, including your specialists who participated in the All-Russian command and staff exercises last week. The flood and fire introductions were as close to reality as possible," Kurenkov said. According to him, during the exercises it was possible to "assess the coherence of actions, including on the restoration of electricity supply to settlements and infrastructure facilities."

Ryumin added that the Ministry of Emergency Situations and ROSSETI annually conduct more than 150 joint exercises. "We are actively working to improve information exchange tools and develop cooperation on other issues. Without such cooperation, it is impossible to ensure reliable power supply to consumers, and, if necessary, promptly eliminate the consequences of adverse weather and natural phenomena," said the head of the electric grid company.

Since 2020, work has been underway to integrate the information systems of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the ROSSETI Group. Thus, up-to-date information on the location and characteristics of power facilities is transmitted to the agency for monitoring the situation and taking measures to reduce the risks of forest fire impacts on the grid infrastructure.

In addition, ROSSETI receives data from space monitoring of wildfires. In the future, companies may provide information about flood conditions and flood zones — this module of the Atlas of Hazards and Risks system of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations is currently under development.
