- The Ukrainian authorities will be able to forcibly seize land and real estate in Transcarpathia.

The Ukrainian authorities will be able to forcibly confiscate land and real estate from residents of the Transcarpathian region, the relevant law was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. This was reported on March 25 by the Ukrainian Judicial and Legal Newspaper.
"It provides for the specifics of the forced alienation of land and other immovable property based on public necessity in conditions of martial law <...> in the Uzhhorod district of the Transcarpathian region," the publication says.
The seized sites will be used to accommodate facilities of the military-industrial complex and infrastructure.
The initiators of forced alienation may be executive authorities, local governments, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as well as defense enterprises themselves.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said at a meeting of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council in Geneva on February 25 that Ukraine had violated the rights of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia. He noted that this has been happening for the past 10 years, and Hungarians living in the region cannot, for example, use their native language in the fields of education, culture, press and public administration. This state of affairs affects Budapest's position on Kiev's European integration.
