The letter from American senators to the head of the United States Department of State, Marco Rubio, calling for the use of frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine is a manifestation of arrogance, and he hopes that the US authorities will have the prudence not to listen to such initiatives. Anatoly Aksakov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, told Izvestia on March 25.

The Reuters news agency reported about the corresponding letter the day before. It was clarified that its authors were Republican Senators Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in Russia) and Todd Young, as well as Democrats Richard Blumenthal and Tim Kaine. They asked Washington to urge Brussels to use Russia's assets in favor of Kiev.

"I think [such calls are made] out of great arrogance, from the permissiveness that American politicians show. <...> I hope that the US authorities will have the prudence not to listen to calls for an attempt on property that does not belong to them. Americans teach the whole world that private property is inviolable, that it is almost divine, and it cannot be infringed upon," Aksakov said.

He noted that calls for the search, seizure and seizure of Russian reserves have not yet found strong support either in the United States or in the European Union (EU).

"The answer may be the harshest," the deputy concluded.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 3 that attempts to seize Russia's frozen assets for transfer to Ukraine would have serious legal consequences. According to him, such actions will also cause a negative reaction from investors.
