Ukrainian militants are purposefully attacking Russian military correspondents. Writer Zakhar Prilepin told Izvestia about this on March 25.

"I really don't think it's a coincidence. I think that there are public and unspoken orders from the Ukrainian side, from the Kiev side, and even, most likely, the personal initiative of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky," he said.

Prilepin added that these actions indicate a manifestation of Ukrainian disobedience and unwillingness to accept the current form of negotiations.

In addition, the writer stressed that the work of a war correspondent is extremely dangerous. He recalled that in 2014, the topic of a "special hunt" for journalists was discussed, at that time the Kiev authorities even paid rewards for such crimes.

Fedorchak's death in the SVO zone became known on March 24. He worked in the Luhansk People's Republic and the Kharkiv region. Fedorchak's latest report on the situation in the Kupyansk area was broadcast on March 23. A memorial was erected in the Izvestia News Center building as a sign of mourning for the deceased correspondent.

On the same day, Andrey Panov, a cameraman for the Zvezda TV channel, and Alexander Sirkeli, the driver of the film crew, were also killed in the SVR zone. They worked on the same set with Fedorchak.
