Russia will support the resumption of the Black Sea initiative in an acceptable form. This was stated on March 25 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with Channel One.

The issue of the Black Sea initiative was discussed at the talks between the Russian and American delegations held in Riyadh. According to Lavrov, Moscow cannot take Kiev at its word on this topic.

The minister also noted that this issue was first raised in July 2022, at the time when UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to an agreement with Russia and Ukraine on the structure of the common package.
