A native of Perm will spend 13 years in a high-security penal colony after a court verdict issued under an article on treason due to the fact that the defendant transferred money as aid to the military of Ukraine. This was announced on March 25 by the regional directorate of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.
According to the agency, the man opposed the conduct of a special military operation in Ukraine. To help the country's armed forces, the defendant made a non-cash money transfer to the current account of the National Bank of Ukraine.
"A case has been investigated against the detainee under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Treason") <...> The defendant has been found guilty. He was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 13 years, with restriction of liberty for a period of one year," the department said.
On March 20, a reserve lieutenant colonel in the Khabarovsk Territory was sentenced to 13 years in a high-security penal colony for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The man transferred funds abroad in the summer and autumn of 2022. His close relative, who lives in Ukraine, received the money, and then transferred it to one of the country's funds. The defendant was found guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason").
