The upcoming visit of the US delegation to Greenland is a form of pressure, which is unacceptable. This was stated on March 25 by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in an interview with TV2.

"This is clearly not the visit that Greenland needs. Therefore, I must say that in this situation, putting pressure on Greenland and Denmark is unacceptable," Frederiksen said.

The politician also noted that this pressure "will have to be resisted."

According to Frederiksen, the visit of the US delegation cannot be considered in isolation from statements about the desire to buy Greenland.

The American delegation, which will include the wife of US Vice President Usha Vance, will arrive in Greenland on March 27-29.

Earlier, on March 10, the head of the government of Greenland, Mute Egede, said that he did not rule out independence for the island. At the same time, he stressed that any options for the future of this territory involve participation in the alliance of Western countries.

Later, on March 12, the British newspaper The Times reported that the victory of the Greenlandic Democrats party, which advocates the gradual independence of the island, in the parliamentary elections showed that the locals do not want Greenland to join the United States, as the American leader wants.
