The explosion at the Policske strojirny ammunition depot near the town of Borgina in the east of the Czech Republic is most likely related to a manufacturing defect, Idnes reported on March 25, citing a source close to the investigation of the incident.

The Czech police also say that the main theory now is a defect in the manufacture of ammunition.

"At the moment, the most likely cause of the explosion is a technical defect in the production technology in one of the workshops," the police said in a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

At the same time, one of the warehouse workers stated that the sound was like a thud, not an explosion, and most likely there was a short circuit in the furnace where the lead is fired.

The explosion at the warehouse was reported earlier that day. At least one victim was reported. The warehouse is located next to a factory that produces large-caliber ammunition, repairs military equipment and supplies spare parts.
