The State Duma adopted the law on countering telephone fraud

Deputies of the State Duma (State Duma) at a meeting on March 25 unanimously adopted the law on combating telephone fraud.
401 people voted for the bill's adoption. There were no votes against or abstentions.
"He (the law. — Ed.) has undergone changes, it has become better, it more effectively solves the tasks of protecting our citizens from fraud using modern information technologies," said Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma.
He clarified that at the current meeting, 21 amendments were adopted, which were considered during the discussion for the second reading. According to him, it is proposed to strengthen responsibility by assigning it to droppers, as well as to banks.
Volodin called for studying other proposals that were voiced within the framework of this law in order to change the legislation.
"Scammers are improving, they are not standing still, so we must also actively counteract them," concluded the chairman of the State Duma.
On February 25, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko spoke about amendments to laws on combating cyberbullying. He clarified that one of the innovations is the mandatory auto-detection of incoming calls. Grigorenko noted that it is also planned to introduce a mandatory interval between SMS messages when changing the password on "Public Services".
