The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has announced that it is demanding an investigation and bringing to justice those responsible for the deaths of three Russian journalists in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). This was announced on March 25 by the official representative of OHCHR Elizabeth Trossel.

She stated that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights expresses concern over reports that six people, including three Russian journalists, were killed in the LPR as a result of rocket fire by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). A 14-year-old boy was also injured.

"We demand that the incident be thoroughly investigated and those responsible brought to justice," Trossel told RIA Novosti.

She added that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk stresses the importance of protecting journalists around the world. He also noted that the media have the same right to protection as civilians, according to international humanitarian law.

The death of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak in the special military operation zone became known on March 24. He worked in the Luhansk People's Republic and the Kharkiv region. Fedorchak's latest report on the situation in the Kupyansk area aired on March 23. A memorial was erected in the Izvestia News Center building as a sign of mourning for the deceased correspondent.

On the same day, Andrei Panov, a cameraman for the Zvezda TV channel, and Alexander Sirkeli, the driver of the film crew, were also killed in the SVR zone. They worked on the same set with Fedorchak.
