While the market for new electric vehicles in Russia has been falling for eight months in a row, sales of used electric cars have been growing for five months in a row since October 2024. So, in February, Russians purchased 819 such cars, which is 22% more than a year ago, the analytical agency Autostat reported on March 25.

More than a third of the aftermarket of electric vehicles (35%) in the last month of winter accounted for the Nissan brand (290 units). The top three also included Zeekr (133 units) and Tesla (107 units). They occupied 65% of the used electric vehicle market, while the performance of each of the remaining brands did not exceed the 100-unit mark.

The Nissan Leaf remains the leader in the model rating, which sold 286 copies in February. None of the models has passed the threshold of 100 used electric vehicles purchased. Behind the Leaf are the Zeekr 001 (90 units), the Tesla Model 3 (49 units), the Evolve I-Pro (31 units) and the Tesla Model Y (29 units).

In total, in January-February, sales of used electric cars in the secondary market amounted to almost 1,700 units, which is 45% more than a year ago.

On March 10, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, announced that in the first two months of 2025, only 1,269 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia. This is 63% less than in January – February of last year. The electric car market has run out of steam, he said.
