The attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the car used by Russian journalists on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) in the special operation zone is a despicable attack. This statement was made on March 25 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

"They were killed in the LPR as a result of a vile attack by the Kiev regime," reads a telegram to the Union of Journalists of Russia, which was reported to journalists in the secretariat of the Security Council.

He noted that the dead journalists were true patriots, distinguished by their honesty and fearlessness. According to him, representatives of the Russian media considered it their professional and civic duty to provide accurate and timely information about what was happening at the front.

Medvedev stressed that the perpetrators of the attack "will face inevitable retribution."

On March 24, Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak was killed in a special operation zone as a result of an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a journalist's car. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the death of a journalist is a new crime of the Ukrainian leadership against freedom of speech, which will not be forgotten.

Later it became known about the deaths of Andrey Panov, the operator of the Zvezda TV channel, and Alexander Sirkeli, the driver of the film crew. It was clarified that the Ukrainian militants had targeted a civilian vehicle with two HIMARS missiles. Nikita Goldin, a correspondent for Zvezda, was also seriously injured as a result of the shelling.
