The death of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak in the special military operation zone is seen as a continuation of Nazi practices on the part of Ukraine. This was announced on March 25 by Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council.

"According to international law, according to the Geneva Conventions, journalists in the conflict zone, including war correspondents, are treated as civilians. And therefore, such strikes are a continuation of the monstrous, Nazi practice of the Kiev authorities, who are hitting the civilian population," he said in an interview with Izvestia.

Kosachev also mentioned that, in addition to Fedorchak, Andrei Panov, a cameraman for the Zvezda TV channel, and Alexander Sirkeli, the driver of the film crew, died at the front. According to him, the growing number of dead journalists indicates that these tragedies are not accidental. These are targeted attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on those who highlight the real state of affairs in the conflict zone.

"This is the kind of truth that the Ukrainian authorities do not need, it is dangerous and deadly for them. And that is why they are hitting obviously civilian targets, including cars that have all the necessary markings, that journalists are driving there, that the press is working," said the deputy chairman of the Federation Council.

Fedorchak's death in the SVO zone became known on March 24. He worked in the Luhansk People's Republic and the Kharkiv region. Fedorchak's latest report on the situation in the Kupyansk area aired on March 23. A memorial was erected in the Izvestia News Center building as a sign of mourning for the deceased correspondent.

On the same day, Andrei Panov, a cameraman for the Zvezda TV channel, and Alexander Sirkeli, the driver of the film crew, were also killed in the SVR zone. They worked on the same set with Fedorchak.
