"The barbaric bombing by NATO aircraft of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Belgrade, and the bombing of other cities and towns led to numerous casualties and destruction of infrastructure," TASS quoted Naryshkin as saying.

NATO attacked the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on March 24, 1999. Their offensive lasted 78 days. NATO called the main reason for the operation "the prevention of genocide of the Albanian population in Kosovo."
