Dozens of car brands may leave the Russian market in 2025. This opinion was expressed by the head of the association "Russian Automobile Dealers" (ROAD) Alexey Podshchekoldin on March 25.
"Dozens of other Chinese brands are not produced in our country, but are imported from China. And the demand for them in Russia is low. If a company cannot maintain a network of service centers in Russia and provide the customer with spare parts and repairs quickly under warranty, then few people trust it. In recent years, about 60 car companies have come to Russia, and only four of them are in demand — Changan, Chery, Geely and Haval, said the head of the ROAD. They came with serious intentions, built assembly lines and service centers in the Russian Federation, and provided spare parts supplies. These are expensive projects that pay for themselves. Currently, cars of more than 100 brands can be purchased in Russia on the new and secondary markets. About 60% of them are Chinese, about 30% are Russian, and 5-6% are officially retired from Russia, who continue to be imported into the country. This proportion will continue in 2025, the head of the association predicted.
