Members of the working group of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on finalizing legislation on stray animals proposed giving regions the right to prohibit feeding pets without owners in certain places. This was reported on March 25 by RIA Novosti with reference to the relevant bill.

In addition, the parliamentarians propose to expand the list of grounds for euthanizing stray animals. In particular, the euthanasia of pets will become permissible if they cause any harm, as well as if they threaten humans, property or other animals.

Also, if a pet is missing, the owner will have to report its disappearance within three days, otherwise it will be considered that the animal was intentionally disposed of illegally.

At the same time, as the Newspaper points out.Ru", absolutely all animals without owners will be subject to capture under the amendments. The return of a captured pet will be possible only upon official request within the prescribed period.

Earlier, on March 17, the first deputy chairman of the Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the State Duma, Vladimir Burmatov, informed Izvestia about the preparation of amendments to the Administrative Code, increasing the fine for dog walking to 50 thousand rubles. The parliamentarian noted that this practice poses a danger both to the animal itself and to the people around it.
