- The father of a boy injured by a husky attack in Sochi spoke about his son's condition
The father of a nine-year-old child whose face was mauled by huskies in Sochi, Valentin Korolev, told Izvestia about his son's rehabilitation process.
It is noted that the boy, who was injured by a dog attack, was taken to Moscow, where he underwent the first operation, which was successful. Thanks to the efforts of experienced surgeons, the flap, taken from the arm and transferred to the face, took root. Doctors continue to monitor the boy's condition.
"He's a big guy. He never cried once <...> During all this time, from the first day to the last, he does not cry. All this is adequately digested and analyzed. As an adult," said the father of the injured child.
At the same time, the man said that for the first time he heard his child's voice after the incident.
"He told me, 'Dad, don't worry. I'm strong. Everything will be fine." Maybe it was an affect, a state of shock, <...> but he is still aware of everything," said Valentin.
According to him, the boy, torn apart by dogs, looks at what is happening without negativity, smiles.
An attack by two huskies on a nine-year-old child took place in Sochi on February 26. The dogs were unattended by the owner, they were driven away from the boy by passers-by. A schoolboy with multiple facial lacerations was taken to a hospital in Krasnodar. Later, the child was transported to the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital in Moscow. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.
The victim underwent surgery. The doctor sewed up one vessel with a diameter of about 0.1 mm for the boy, while he assessed the child's nose and remaining lip as almost non-viable.
The owner of the dogs was charged under Part 1 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing serious harm to health by negligence"). During the interrogation, he admitted his guilt, adding that he had not fed the animals for some time and this could have influenced their aggressive behavior.
