In Belgrade, Serbian students held a protest rally in front of the General Staff building. Journalist Sergey Petrov showed relevant footage from the scene.

The footage shows students and locals walking with posters, icons and flags of ancient Serbia, some of the participants came to the rally in national costumes.

According to Petrov, several thousand protesters opposed the construction of a hotel on the site of the General Staff building, which was damaged by NATO bombing in 1999, but in 2024 it ceased to have the status of a cultural heritage site. The protesters also called for an assessment of the constitutionality of this decision.

"In general, everyone has one question: how can a hotel, casino, and entertainment facilities be built on the territory of a historical monument, a monument that symbolizes all the pain of the Serbian people," the journalist stressed.

It is specified that the student protests in Belgrade were peaceful and without arrests.

Student demonstrations in Belgrade began on March 15. More than 30 thousand students joined the protest, which was joined by a column of 100 tractors. 56 people were injured during the protests. The reason for the protests of students and the opposition was the death of 15 people as a result of the collapse of the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad. According to Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin, anti-government actions in the country are aimed at destroying the state, not at developing solutions.
