A unified digital register of those in need of better housing conditions will appear in Russia. Such amendments were approved by the government commission on legislative activity on Monday, March 24, the sources of the editorial office in the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Bar Association, recalled that legislation now provides for many measures to support citizens in need of better housing conditions.

"However, the registration of citizens, depending on the type of support provided, as well as the level of government, is carried out separately. Therefore, a duty is being introduced for public authorities.
and local governments should post relevant information in such a register," the expert said.

Due to the lack of a common registry, there is a risk of duplication of accounting for the measures provided, Gruzdev explained.

"At the same time, if necessary, it is problematic for state and municipal authorities to clarify certain information due to the presence of many registers. For beneficiary citizens, this can also lead to a slowdown in receiving social measures. The planned unified register will improve the efficiency and speed of decision—making on social assistance," he concluded.

According to preliminary data, there are more than 2 million people in need in Russia, for example, young families, veterans, the disabled and other categories.
