The Second Western District Military Court has sentenced two colonels of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to life in prison in absentia for terrorist attacks on Russian military airfields. This was announced on March 24 by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

The verdict was passed against the commander of the 383rd UAV brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force, Colonel Andrei Dzyan and the senior navigator of the same brigade, Colonel Sergei Burdenyuk.

"They were found guilty under clauses "a" and "c" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Commission of a terrorist act by an organized group that caused grave consequences") and clause "b" of Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act that caused death of a person")," the statement said..

It was established that from October to December 2022, the military, as part of an organized group led by Kiev, engaged in terrorist activities to intimidate the civilian population. In particular, on their orders, four terrorist attacks were carried out using weapons, military equipment and drones with explosive devices at airfields in the Ryazan, Kaluga and Saratov regions.

The colonels of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were put on the international wanted list, and the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention against them, the SOE added.

Earlier, on March 16, it was reported that Boris Dombek, a serviceman of the 41st separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for obstructing the evacuation of people in the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region.
