Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin held a meeting with Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Rebecca Greenspan, where issues of ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea were discussed. This was announced on March 24 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The key importance of unhindered access of Russian fertilizers and foodstuffs to world markets was noted, the supply of which is seriously complicated as a result of illegal unilateral Western sanctions," the ministry noted.
The Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that the possibility of implementing Russian humanitarian actions was also discussed. For example, the issue of gratuitous transfer of mineral fertilizers blocked in EU ports to poor countries was raised.
Earlier, on March 24, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that during the talks in Riyadh, it was planned to discuss the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. Representatives of the United States and the Russian Federation will talk about the possibility of ending hostilities in the water area and resuming trade.
