The Spanish Navy and NATO forces began large-scale naval exercises Dynamic Mariner/Flotex-25 in the Gulf of Cadiz in the Atlantic Ocean on Monday. This was reported on the website of the NATO Naval Forces Command.
"FLOTEX-25 is an annual advanced—level naval exercise that tests the Navy's ability to command and control naval forces far from our shores," the department said in a statement.
It is specified that about 4 thousand military personnel, 30 ships, two submarines, aviation and amphibious units will take part in them. Military personnel from nine countries of the alliance — Germany, Croatia, Spain, the USA, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Turkey - are involved in the exercises. During the maneuvers, the management of the naval group in areas of increased combat intensity, as well as the use of unmanned systems, will be worked out.
Earlier, on January 4, the British Ministry of Defense announced that the kingdom had decided to send 2,600 troops and 730 pieces of equipment to the NATO Steadfast Dart exercises, which took place from January to February in Bulgaria and Romania. It was specified that the 1st Division of the British Army was to exercise command of all ground forces involved in the maneuvers. At the same time, the Royal Navy and Air Force were also involved in the Steadfast Dart.
Earlier, on November 29, 2024, NATO military exercises TUMAK-24 started in Poland, which were held 70 km from the border with Russia. The training was carried out by the 16th mechanized division of the Polish army and allied NATO forces, about 2.5 thousand soldiers participated in it and 800 units of military equipment were used. The main element of the exercises, which ended on December 2, was the crossing of Lake Kempno on tanks at the training ground in Ozhish.
