The Israeli military has eliminated the main financier of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Barhoum. This was announced on March 24 by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

It is specified that the strike was carried out on March 23 in the Khan Yunis area. As a result of the incident, Barkhum, who holds the post of prime minister of the government of the enclave controlled by the radical movement, was killed in the hospital.

"Barhoum was a key figure in the Hamas political bureau and was actively involved in the military decision—making process that directly influenced Hamas operations," the Israel Defense Forces Telegram channel noted.

According to the IDF, they will continue their actions against Hamas in order to eliminate any threats to Israeli citizens.

Representatives of the Gaza Ministry of Health said on the same day that the IDF had attacked the largest hospital in the southern Gaza Strip, killing two people and injuring others. The strike hit the surgical department of Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. A 16-year-old teenager who underwent surgery and a member of the political bureau of the Palestinian group Hamas, who was being treated in hospital, were killed.

On March 18, the Israel Defense Forces announced the resumption of military operations against the Palestinian Hamas movement in Gaza. As a result of the Israeli airstrikes, more than 1,000 people were injured, and the death toll increased to 310. The media also said that Israel had warned the administration of US President Donald Trump in advance about the resumption of attacks on Gaza.
