- Zakharova urged not to expect breakthroughs from the talks between Russia and the United States in Riyadh

From the negotiations between Russia and the United States in Riyadh, it is necessary not so much to expect breakthroughs as to understand that work is underway in a number of directions. This was stated on March 24 by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, at a meeting with students of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
"These are negotiations that take place behind closed doors. Of course, it is necessary not so much to wait for some breakthroughs, but to understand that work is going on in several directions," TASS quotes her as saying.
As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out, it is necessary to keep in mind the goals and objectives defined by the Russian Federation.
Zakharova also noted that the negotiations are taking place in a closed format, there were no introductory remarks and no protocol recordings.
Earlier, on March 20, Zakharova confirmed that there would be no high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Russian delegation to the negotiations with the United States. Later, on March 23, Michael Waltz, Assistant to the American President for National Security, said that issues related to the verification of the ceasefire, the peacekeeping contingent and the ownership of territories would be discussed at the talks.
