The expert named the top mandatory spring procedures for the car

Most drivers are aware of the mandatory seasonal procedures for cars that must be carried out in the spring. However, many car owners overlook the list of mandatory steps to protect the body. These important actions will help to get rid of the consequences of a difficult winter and prevent the development of corrosion, Yaroslav Kukarin, head of two body repair stations in the FIT SERVICE network, told Izvestia on March 25.
"You need to start seasonal car body care by checking the condition of the protective elements. This means that we carefully inspect the fenders, mudguards, bottom and engine compartment protectors, and bumper fasteners. In case of damage to these elements, which often occur after winter, I recommend promptly replacing or repairing each damage," he said.
The expert clarified that there will be frequent rains during the spring and summer season, so all protective elements are important. Due to their failure and inefficiency, the vehicle's systems, which are located directly under the protective elements, can be damaged.
In addition, it is necessary to carefully inspect the entire body for corrosion foci. The greatest attention should be paid to thresholds, arches, lower inner parts of doors and the bottom.
"Such a procedure is rarely performed and very unnecessarily. If there are wing extensions and plastic door sills, I advise you to dismantle them to check the condition of the metal under the plastic. In addition, it will be useful to clean the inner body of the thresholds from road dirt and reagents. Also, on all fresh cars (up to 5 years old), I recommend anti—corrosion treatment of internal metal parts for prevention," added Kukarin.
According to him, a special focus is on the inner parts of the spars, the inner parts of the sills, the arches of the rear wings, the spare wheel niche, the mounting points of the rear suspension and the front suspension. Such spot treatment will save money. If the anti—theft was carried out earlier and the warranty for the service is valid — as a rule, its term is five years - then you need to check the condition and make sure that additional actions and restoration of coverage are not required.
"Be sure to check the condition of the car interior floor covering. In winter, snow often gets under removable mats, melts and soaks into the main floor covering. As a result, unpleasant odors may appear, and iron corrosion may begin. We recommend drying the floor covering with disassembly of the interior, and treating the corrosion foci with a special compound," the expert explained.
It is also necessary to check the condition of the paintwork. It is important to carry out timely chip treatment, tamponing, polishing of individual elements or the entire car body with a protective coating. It is useful to treat car glass with a hydrophobic composition before the summer season.
"It is useful to carry out preventive maintenance of the sunroof drainage holes. Untimely maintenance leads to blockages in the drainage system and water entering the roof lining and spreading throughout the cabin. Also, do not forget to replace the winter wiper blades with summer ones and check the system's performance," he concluded.
Earlier, on March 14, experts from the SberAuto car purchase, maintenance and sale service told Izvestia that with basic tools and skills, self-tire installation can lead to unpleasant consequences. They stressed that it is worthwhile to change only the wheel assemblies on your own — it is difficult to properly install the disc without experience and equipment.
