Russian residents have become less likely to spend their winter holidays in Turkey. About this on Monday, March 24, aif.ru The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported.

In February 2025, about 2.17 million foreigners vacationed in Turkey, of which no more than 577 thousand Russians. In 2024, 663,000 Russians visited Turkey during this period.

ATOR pointed to the negative dynamics of Russian arrivals to Turkey in the winter of 2024-2025, which is stable. So, in December last year, the decrease was 10.5%, in January this year — 11.6%.

According to experts, the decrease in tourist flow may be due to an increase in the cost of holidays in hotels in Turkey. Russian citizens have also become more likely to choose holidays in Thailand and Egypt, in addition, it has become more affordable to spend a vacation in the UAE, and flights to Vietnam and Hainan have become cheaper.

On March 21, ATOR Vice President Artur Muradian said that the protests in Istanbul were unlikely to affect the resorts. Referring to his Turkish partners, he noted that the situation in Istanbul is calm now, with all major attractions, food outlets and shops operating as usual. He stressed that the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Golden Horn, Topkapi Palace and other main attractions of Istanbul are located far from the places where rallies are held. kp.ru .

On the same day, Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, said that despite the unrest in Turkey, Russian tourists continue to actively travel to the country, especially to the coastal areas. He also stressed that the protests do not affect tourist areas, notes Life.ru .

On March 17, Dmitry Arutyunov, CEO of Art-Tour, noted in an interview with NSN that Turkey, Egypt and the UAE remain the leaders in bookings for this summer. The demand for summer trips to China also increased by 15%. ATOR reported that tourists mostly choose beach holidays in the summer, and Hainan accounts for about 95% of the total volume of tours to China.

In February, the service "Fly.<url> reported that Turkey, Egypt and the UAE have become the most popular destinations for the May holidays this year. The demand for tours with arrivals during the May holidays this year has doubled last year's figures. About half of the applications were received from tourists with children.
