Difficulties with the supply of Western auto parts due to sanctions and payment problems have pushed businesses to increase investments in the construction and modernization of automotive component production facilities in Russia. Last year, the number of investment projects in this area increased by 71.4% compared to 2023, experts from the TenderPro electronic trading platform told Izvestia on March 24.
"Most often, businesses invest in the production of consumables for transport, steering mechanisms, gearboxes, transmissions, brakes, engines, wheels, and car electrics," said Elena Astafyeva, Commercial Director of TenderPro.
According to analysts, the number of investment projects in the automotive sector in Russia increased by 63.3% over the year. The total investment amounted to 192.6 billion rubles. Companies mainly invest in the production of automotive components (42.2% of all investment projects), automotive equipment (31.6%), as well as trailers and semi-trailers (20%).
Commercial enterprises launch new investment projects to diversify their existing businesses (in 63.4% of cases), experts estimate. In 36.4% of cases, companies invest in projects aimed at increasing productivity.
Among the Russian regions, the Volga Federal District (24.7% of all projects), the Central Federal District (18.2%), the Northwestern Federal District (13.3%), the Ural Federal District (4.4%) and the Siberian Federal District (2.7%) became the leaders in the number of investment projects in the automotive industry and automotive components.
On March 19, it was reported that average prices for car spare parts have increased by 1.2% since December last year. Among foreign cars, spare parts for Porsche (+5.8%), Skoda (+5.7%), Peugeot (+5.3%), Volkswagen (+5.1%), Toyota (+4%), Hyundai (+2.9%), Renault (2.7%) and Audi (+2.2%).
