After winter, traces of reagents and salt, which are sprinkled on the roads, remain on the car body. If there are chips and scratches on the body, this will lead to corrosion, Alexander Smith, the owner of the Carbase chain of detailing centers, warned on March 24, listing ways to protect the car.

To remove the remaining salts and dirt, you should thoroughly wash the body and pay special attention to the wheel arches, sills and the bottom, where the most aggressive substances accumulate, he advised.

"After washing, I recommend additionally covering the body with protective wax or a ceramic coating: the protective film will prevent exposure to ultraviolet light, moisture and chemicals on the paint, give the car shine and facilitate subsequent cleaning," the Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Smith.

Before applying the ceramic coating, make sure that the body is clean and undamaged. It is also recommended to pre-polish to remove minor scratches and restore the smoothness of the surface. It is also worth checking the condition of the anti-corrosion protection on the bottom and in hidden cavities, as well as to eliminate chips and scratches. Chrome-plated elements can only be protected with a film, the specialist noted.

On March 21, auto expert Nikita Rodionov said that fogging a car headlight indicates a violation of the tightness of the part, which affects its durability, leads to a deterioration in lighting quality and reduced visibility, as well as increases the risk of corrosion of the reflector and oxidation of the contacts of electrical connections.

On March 17, automotive expert Vadim Strelbitsky explained that after the winter, when the car was exposed to low temperatures, humidity and reagents, it was necessary to carry out the procedure of "roasting" the engine. The process of "roasting" an engine is a long—term intensive movement of a car at high speeds, which allows you to clean the engine of accumulated dirt and deposits, the auto expert explained.
