An emergency mode was introduced in the village of Kugoty in the Republic of Buryatia after flood water washed away the road. This was announced on March 23 by the press service of the Agency for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations in the region.

"Due to the disruption of transport links and the deterioration of living conditions of the population in the village of Kugoty, Mukhorshibirsky district, an emergency mode has been introduced since March 23," the department said.

Also, to divert floods from the Sukhara River, a channel was made on top of the roadbed, through which water will flow. In addition, the specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations additionally strengthened the roads in the settlements of Mukhorshibir and Novy Zagan.

"A set of measures to eliminate the consequences of the flood is continuing, including pumping water from flooded areas, constructing canals, strengthening embankments and dams. The situation is under constant control of emergency services and local authorities," the agency concluded.

On the same day, the number of flooded areas in the Irkutsk region increased to 105. At the moment, work is underway to drain meltwater, pump water from flooded areas and provide targeted assistance to residents. On March 22, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reported that 13 houses and 173 household plots were flooded in 12 regions of Russia. In addition, 48 low-water bridges were flooded.
