In some European countries, transgender and non-binary citizens (the movement is recognized as extremist in Russia) have been urged to plan carefully when planning to visit the United States due to a decree by US President Donald Trump requiring the federal government to recognize only two genders. This was reported on March 23 by the Axios portal.

"Finland, Denmark and Germany have called for careful planning for transgender and non—binary travelers wishing to enter the United States, in accordance with the decree requiring the federal government to recognize only two genders: male and female," the publication says.

Such changes to the recommendations were made after citizens from several countries were detained by the US immigration authorities due to problems with tourist visas.

For example, the Danish Foreign Ministry recommends contacting the United States Embassy, if necessary, for instructions on how to proceed. And on the UK government's "Tips on Foreign Travel" page for the United States, travelers were urged to "comply with all conditions for entry and obtaining a visa."

Earlier, on January 20, Trump said that the official US policy is to recognize only two genders — male and female.
