The Ministry of Emergency Situations has extended the avalanche danger in Kamchatka until March 27.

In Kamchatka, from March 25 to March 27, an increased risk of avalanches was announced. This was announced on Monday, March 24, by the press service of the regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"Due to the increased risk of avalanches from the slopes of volcanoes and hills, the Kamchatka Regional Avalanche Prevention Center has issued an avalanche danger warning," the agency said in a statement on its website.

Avalanches are possible in the mountainous territories of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsky urban districts, Yelizovsky municipal district, especially the basin of the Paratunka River, Ust-Bolsheretsky, Milkovsky, Bystrinsky and Ust-Kamchatsky municipal districts, as well as from Vilyuchinsky, Kozelsky, Koryaksky and Avachinsky volcanoes.

On March 20, residents of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk were warned about avalanches. Snowfall is possible in areas and villages near mountainous terrain. Earlier, on March 11, an expedition group of nine people was trapped by an avalanche on Mount Aragats in Armenia. Eight tourists managed to get out on their own, one disappeared.
