IL-38 aircraft of naval aviation have practiced piloting in emergency situations

During the training, IL-38 anti-submarine aircraft of the Pacific Fleet Naval Aviation (Pacific Fleet) worked out piloting tasks in case of emergency situations at the airfield in Primorsky Krai. This was announced on March 24 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"As part of the flight mission, the crews were tested on the technique of piloting aircraft using their maximum operational capabilities. During the flight, the crews practiced the control skills of the Il-38, rising to a maximum altitude of 8,000 km, after which they set training tasks for emergency descent, failure of one and two engines, failure of aerobatic navigation equipment," the ministry said.
According to the inspection plans, in the air, the crews sequentially turned off and started the aircraft engine several times, as well as practiced landing on backup systems.
The servicemen also improved their skills in completing a set course over undirected terrain, and coordination of actions when piloting in the absence of ground-based radio navigation equipment.
"Every year, regardless of rank and position, every pilot is tested on piloting techniques. Today, such a check was carried out with the maximum capabilities of the aircraft. <...> In flight, there was a maximum altitude, maximum speed, and an emergency descent. Introductory notes were given on engine failures, two engine failures," said Sergey Timakov, Deputy commander of the Pacific Fleet's mixed naval Aviation regiment.
These maneuvers took place over the waters of the Sea of Japan.
Earlier, on March 20, ships of the Russian Federation and Pakistan conducted joint exercises in the Arabian Sea. The Russian group included the corvettes "Sharp", "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov" and the medium sea tanker "Pechenga" of the Pacific Fleet. The Pakistani side involved the frigate "Shah Jahan" and the corvette "Tabuk" in the exercises. On March 12, the ships of the Russian Federation, Iran and China practiced the liberation of the captured vessel during the exercises.
