Avalanche descended on a road in the center of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, an avalanche descended from Petrovskaya Sopka and covered the road in the city center. This was reported on March 24 in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
"At night, a snow mass was recorded in the regional capital from Petrovskaya Sopka onto the Embankment Street highway. There were no people or cars in the snowfall area. A contractor was involved in the work on clearing the roadway," the department informed.
It is reported that traffic on this section is already open. At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations stressed that the overall situation on the city's roads "remains difficult."
"Due to heavy precipitation, road crossings form almost immediately after the passage of road equipment. In addition, there is still poor visibility on the roads," the warning reads.
On March 20, residents of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk were warned about avalanches. Snowfall is possible in areas and villages near mountainous terrain. Earlier, on March 11, an expedition group of nine people was trapped by an avalanche on Mount Aragats in Armenia. Eight tourists managed to get out on their own, one disappeared.
