Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced difficult negotiations between Russia and the United States on a "grain deal." He stated this on March 23 to Pavel Zarubin, a VGTRK journalist, in an interview published on the Telegram channel.

Peskov recalled that when UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres acted as the guarantor of the Black Sea deal, the Russian side fulfilled its obligations, but the obligations towards Russia were not fulfilled.

"Difficult negotiations are ahead," he commented.

The spokesman added that Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to agree to the resumption of the "grain deal," for which many details and subtleties will have to be discussed.

In October 2024, Peskov recalled the West's failure to comply with the terms of the grain deal. Also, commenting on the words of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the Russian leader is looking for conditions to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Ukraine, Peskov said that this should be clarified with the head of the Turkish state himself.
