The Prime Minister of Canada has scheduled parliamentary elections for April 28.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has scheduled early parliamentary elections for April 28. He made the corresponding statement on March 23 during a special address broadcast by national TV channels.
"I ask my fellow citizens for a strong and positive mandate. I have just asked the Governor-General [of Canada, Mary Simon] to dissolve parliament and schedule elections for April 28," he stressed, indicating Simon's agreement.
During his speech, Carney also criticized US President Donald Trump, saying he had caused a serious crisis and jeopardized Canada's freedom.
Earlier, on March 14, Carney was officially sworn in as the country's prime minister. The former head of the Central Bank of Canada won the election of the leader of the ruling Liberal Party on March 9, gaining 86% of the vote.
