The United States expects that the upcoming talks with Russia in Saudi Arabia will show progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on March 23 by Stephen Witkoff, the special envoy of the American president for the Middle East, in an interview with Fox News channel.

"I think you will see some real progress in Saudi Arabia on Monday, especially with regard to the Black Sea," he said.

According to Witkoff, after the issue of a cease-fire in the Black Sea, the parties will move on to discussing a complete cessation of hostilities.

On March 24, negotiations between the delegations of the Russian Federation and the United States will take place in Riyadh. They will discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and the implementation of the Black Sea initiative. The Russian delegation will be led by Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, and Sergey Beseda, Adviser to the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB).
