US President Donald Trump called communication with Russian leader Vladimir Putin "rational". He informed the OutKick portal about this on March 22.

"We've had some very rational discussions, and I just want people to stop dying," Trump shared.

According to the American leader, he "knows Putin very well." Trump also added that he was pleased that relations between the Russian and American sides had not deteriorated due to Russia's accusations of alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the conversation between the leaders took place in a trusting and constructive atmosphere. At the same time, Peskov added that difficult technical negotiations are necessary for a personal meeting between Trump and Putin.

The telephone conversation between Putin and Trump took place on the evening of March 18. During the conversation, they exchanged views on the Ukrainian conflict, and also discussed a wide range of areas in which the United States and Russia could establish cooperation.

Negotiations between the delegations of Russia and the United States will take place in Riyadh on March 24. They will discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and the implementation of the Black Sea initiative. The Russian delegation will be led by Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, and Sergey Beseda, Adviser to the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB).
