Ovechkin's two assists ensured the Capitals' victory over Florida

Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin, who currently plays as a forward and captain of the American club Washington Capitals, secured victory for his team in the National Hockey League (NHL) home match against the Florida Panthers. The match took place on Saturday, March 22.

Connor McMichael (4th minute), John Carlson (13th), Anthony Beauvillier (15th), Tom Wilson (21st), Dylan Strome (21st) and Andrew Mangiapane (26th) scored goals for the host team.

Sam Bennett (7), Seth Jones (14) and Jonah Gadzovic (15) scored goals for Florida.

Ovechkin did not score a single goal, but he hit their board five times. He spent 20 minutes on the ice and during that time made two successful passes to Dylan Strom and Andrew Manjapane, who scored the last two goals. The match ended with a score of 6:3.

Earlier, on March 21, Ovechkin scored the 888th goal of his career, set an NHL record for the number of seasons with 35 or more goals and reduced the gap from forward Wayne Gretzky's record to six goals.
