Switzerland is ready to participate in peace negotiations and the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on Saturday, March 22, by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis.

"The best scenario is a ceasefire with peace talks. Here, as Switzerland, we could contribute," he said in an interview with the newspaper Aargauer Zeitung.

Also, according to the diplomat, the country could organize observation missions in 2026 as part of its chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

In addition, Switzerland is able to organize sections of interests of both sides at its diplomatic missions in Moscow and Kiev, Kassis noted.

On the same day, Stephen Witkoff, the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, said that the international status of the new regions of the Russian Federation remains the leading issue in resolving the Ukrainian conflict. He also called the problem of recognizing the new territories of the Russian Federation international.

Earlier, on March 16, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that Russia was skeptical about the involvement of the OSCE in the event of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
