- The media learned about Biden's permission for Chevron to pay millions of dollars to Venezuela

Former US President Joe Biden secretly allowed the Chevron oil corporation to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to Venezuela, despite a license that explicitly prohibited such payments. This was reported by Bloomberg on March 22.
It clarifies that we are talking about a secret addendum to the general license of the US Treasury Department dated November 2022, which allowed Chevron to extract and export Venezuelan oil, but explicitly prohibited the company from paying taxes, royalties or dividends to the Venezuelan government or any government organizations.
However, as Bloomberg learned, this addition allowed the company to make such payments, allegedly "necessary to continue business" in the country. In 2023, Chevron declared about $300 million in tax obligations to the Venezuelan authorities.
The agency noted that Chevron's relationship with Venezuela has attracted the close attention of U.S. President Donald Trump in recent weeks, and earlier this month he set a 30-day deadline to complete joint operations with Venezuela's state-owned oil and gas company PDVSA.
In addition, according to sources, the administration is ready to extend this period for at least another 30 days after lobbying by Chevron. One of the conditions of the extension will be the requirement that any taxes and royalties will be used to help pay for the deportation of migrants.
In February, the media reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump was taking measures to lift protection from deportation for 348,000 Venezuelans.
During his term, former US President Joe Biden significantly expanded the temporary protection program, which currently covers more than 1 million people from 17 countries. Some of them have been in the United States for decades, and now they may face immediate deportation if they lose their status.
