Lithuania plans to mine the borders with Russia and Belarus following the example of Poland. This was announced on March 22 by the Ministry of Defense of the state.

A meeting of the heads of law enforcement agencies of the Baltic states was held in Vilnius, during which it was decided to strengthen the northeastern flank with anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.

"Following the example of Poland, the northeastern flank border can be reinforced with multi-layered fortifications, including, but not limited to, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines. The region's partners intend to seek EU funding to achieve this goal," the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense informed.

Earlier, on March 18, it was reported that the Polish border service was resorting to excessive use of force against migrants on the border with Belarus. Polish border guards beat asylum seekers, shoot at them with rubber bullets, strip them naked and unleash dogs on them.
