Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow on May 9. This was announced on March 22 by Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, following consultations with Nenad Popovich, the Serbian minister responsible for international economic cooperation.

"May is a victory in the Great Patriotic War. We are very glad that Serbian President Vucic will be in Moscow, and, of course, there will be a meeting and negotiations with the Russian president," Oreshkin said, as quoted by TASS.

The deputy head of the Russian leader's administration noted that in the context of bilateral economic relations, "there are many important issues." In addition, the heads of state will discuss new areas of cooperation, Oreshkin stressed.

Earlier in the day, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, during a meeting with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin, invited Serbia to participate in the international meeting of high representatives on security issues in Moscow on May 27-29. Shoigu also noted Belgrade's steadfastness in refusing to join the anti-Russian sanctions.

In December 2024, Vucic announced that he had agreed with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to go to the Victory Day Parade in the Russian capital on May 9, 2025.
