The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is trying to attract young people to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with a multi-year subscription to the streaming service Netflix. This was reported on March 22 by the online newspaper "Страна.иа ".
"The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine continues to advertise contracts for young people aged 18 to 24 using the comparison method — how much can you get for a million hryvnias ($24 thousand — Ed.)," the publication's Telegram channel says.
"The country.ua" has published photos of several banners. One of them indicates that for payment under a special contract, you can buy a Netflix subscription for 185 years. Another advertisement offers to purchase millions of units of in-game currency on the Roblox online platform.
On March 20, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine posted a video on the TikTok social network designed to attract young people to serve in the army by describing the number of cheeseburgers that can be bought with contract payments.
On February 8, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced his intention to attract young people from 18 to 24 years old to the Armed Forces through special contracts. He noted that UAH 1 million, free admission to university without exams, as well as special mortgage conditions will be provided for young Ukrainians.
