On March 22, Canadian Joshua Livo, a player of the Ufa hockey club Salavat Yulaev, set a record for the number of goals in one regular season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Livo scored his 49th goal in 62 games in a match against Barys from Kazakhstan and broke the record of Russian hockey player Sergei Mozyakin - 48 goals in 60 matches.

The Canadian joined Salavat Yulaev in September 2023. Prior to joining the KHL, Livo played for the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League (NHL).

On the night of March 21, Russian hockey player of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin scored the 888th goal of his career and reduced the gap to Canadian Wayne Gretzky to six goals. Washington played against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The hockey player told Izvestia and Sport-Express on March 11 that he was not going to renew his contract with the American club and was considering returning to Dynamo Moscow. At the same time, Ovechkin noted that it is difficult to make plans for such a long time.
