The German economy has been severely affected by anti-Russian sanctions, despite the fact that Russia itself has not felt any serious consequences from these restrictions. This was stated on March 22 by Arnaud Bausemer, a member of the European Parliament (EP), a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and the Stop Sanctions public movement.

"I am very surprised that even after three years, people still believe that the introduction of new sanctions will harm Russia. In this case, if fertilizer tariffs come into effect, the only ones we will harm are our farmers. <...> We see that Russia has not suffered economically in any way, but our economy has suffered greatly from these sanctions. And this must stop," said Bausemer at a meeting of the European Parliament, his words are quoted by the website of the Stop Sanctions movement.

He recalled that Germany has already been hit by a wave of agricultural bankruptcies due to anti-Russian sanctions. According to him, there were 560 dairy farms in Saxony-Anhalt, where he comes from, in 2013, but by 2025 their number has decreased significantly.

"And if you want to destroy agriculture, then you are on the right track. Anyone who declares their support for European agriculture cannot introduce or decide on additional tariffs here," added Bausemer.

Noted. Earlier, a meeting of all relevant committees of the AFD of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt appealed to the leadership of the party and its supporters throughout Germany with a request to join the resolution against sanctions.

On February 21, Professor Harald Weiel, a member of the Bundestag from the AFD party and deputy chairman of the parliamentary group for the United States, said that the AFD party would seek the lifting of sanctions against Russia. According to the politician, the party also supports the repair of the Nord Stream gas pipelines and the restoration of energy cooperation with Russia.

On February 28, it became known that the German residents' fatigue index from sanctions against Russia, China and Iran reached a maximum — then it was 9.4 out of 10 points. Since the end of December, it has grown by 0.4 points, according to a survey conducted by the Stop Sanctions movement.
