China has discussed with the countries of the European Union (EU) the possibility of its participation in a potential "peacekeeping contingent" after the end of the Ukrainian conflict. This was reported on March 22 by the Welt am Sonntag newspaper, citing sources.

"China is considering the possibility of participating in a potential peacekeeping force in Ukraine. Chinese diplomats found out in Brussels whether such a step is possible or even desirable from the point of view of the Europeans," the article says.

At the same time, Zhou Bo, a senior researcher at the Tsinghua University Center for International Security and Strategy, said that China would not be able to send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine without obtaining the consent of both sides of the conflict.

Earlier, on March 16, The Telegraph newspaper reported that the "coalition of the willing", consisting of Western countries, could not come to an agreement on sending troops to Ukraine after a possible settlement of the conflict. According to the newspaper, the allied group has not yet reached a specific agreement on peacekeeping forces on Ukrainian territory.
