Russians were warned about the beginning of a strong magnetic storm on March 23

On Sunday, March 23, a strong magnetic storm may begin on Earth against the background of a solar flare. This was announced on March 22 in the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS and the ISSF SB RAS.
"The resumption of strong magnetic storms, however, is expected at the junction of today and tomorrow, when the current influence of the solar wind will be supplemented by the impact of the mass ejection, which is expected to arrive around this time," the website says.
It is noted that the Sun has thrown out a large cloud of plasma, which is the highest this year.
At the moment, the forecast of magnetic storms is being formed, however, a G3-level storm is expected. At the same time, the last time storms of a comparable level were observed was in early January 2025.
It is indicated that the magnetic storm will occur between 03:00 and 06:00 Moscow time on Sunday.
Earlier that day, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, reported that on March 21, a magnetic storm was recorded on Earth, the power of which reaches a level of intensity from mild to medium. In his opinion, the storm was caused by the Earth falling into a stream of fast and dense solar wind, which is 150-200 km/s higher than normal.
